Pledge to Complete UFOs

Many of us donated UFOs for the Holiday raffle and lightened our load. But also, many of us gained UFOs from winning(?) at the Holiday raffle. Join our 2024 UFO (Unfinished Objects) Challenge by pledging to finish some of these up by using UFOs from 2023 or older! …

Postcard Exchange

During our zoom meeting months of January and February, our guild will be sponsoring a quilted postcard exchange. It’s not complicated, sign up and you’ll receive an email at the end of December with your January partner. Send your partner a quilted postcard at any time during January and they’ll send you one in return! Wool Applique Group

There is always something new happening in NLCQG!   With the interest indicated on our October ballot, Carolyn Kujawinski has offered to head up a Wool Appliqué Group!
The group started meeting November 30th and will continue meeting Thursdays from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM once a month at the Antioch Public Library.  Whether you’re a seasoned wool worker or a novice, this group will surround you with others to help guide your projects.

Mystery Quilt

Our 2nd annual guild mystery quilt will start in February of 2024! The announcement flyer is attached to the December 2023 Newsletter (click here).

Once a week, for 9 weeks this winter, our guild will be releasing clues via email for an intriguing, pieced quilt pattern that is perfect for beginners, but also has enough options to interest the experienced quilter. This year’s finished quilt is designed to be 52” x 52” but there will be instructions included to make it smaller or larger. Sign up starts by emailing mystery@nlcqg.org. Looking forward to quilting along with everyone this winter.

Help Wanted!

help wanted

  • Raffle Quilt Ticket Record Keeper – This person will order the hard copies of tickets needed, keep track of quantity of sold tickets by members or from which event and enter into an on-line raffle quilt ticket system as we had done last year. This position does not require you to schedule the events where tickets will be sold as that is now done by the Event Coordinator
  • Rummage Sale – The guild voted to have Rafflemania during a guild meeting so if we’d like to have a Saturday rummage sale, we will need a coordinator.Advertising – The guild voted overwhelmingly to allow advertising in our newsletter, but we’ll need someone to chair this fundraising activity.
  • Month Long Quilt Display – There is an interest, we need a chairman.
  • Pattern Testers – Some of the quilts for our proposed guild pattern book have been designed and are ready for testing! Let us know if you’d like to be the first to try one of these new patterns

Contact: president@nlcqg.org for more details on any of these activities.

October 2023 Skill Builder – Fidget Quilts Cancelled

There was not enough interest in the October fidget quilt skill builder, so we are going to cancel it at this point. Hopefully we will be able to reschedule it in 2024.

In this workshop we will be making a fidget quilt using either a planned or serendipitous design, the choice is yours. We will be making a quilt foundation which will then be embellished with a variety of ribbons, buttons, trims, yo-yos, etc. This fun mini-quilt provides an opportunity to “play” and let your creativity flow. Participants have the option of keeping their completed fidget quilt or donating it. …

Charity Sew In – October 4, 2023

Wednesday October 4, Sewing for Sale, 2:00–5:00 pm. Clean up and take a break for dinner and be ready for our usual evening meeting as doors open at 6:00 pm.
Help fill our Farmers Market booth and learn tote bag techniques! Lynn Ray will demo bag construction. Bring your usual sewing supplies, and if you wish, fun fabric that you think would be good for a bag. We will be suppling fabric if you don’t bring your own.

Thank you to all the sewers who came to our September Strip Sewing day. I’m looking forward to see the finished quilts we all started. We still have many strips left! If you’re ready for more strip quilts, check out our page of links for free patterns and inspiration.
Please direct all questions about these sewing days to Roberta at charity@nlcqg.org
