At the January 6th Guild Meeting, we will be doing charity sewing using the Heartstrings pattern. Doors open at 6:30PM and the meeting will start at 7:00PM.
Below are the items we will need to bring to the sew-in. We thought it could be fun do these in some kind of teams with one person sewing, another one ironing and maybe someone squaring up the blocks and arranging the blocks. If all the materials are cut ahead of time we should be able to finish several quilts. Each quilt takes 48 squares.
NLCQG HeartStrings * January, 2016
We will make string-pieced blocks using the basic HeartStrings patterns. 48 – 9” blocks per quilt (54” x 72”)
Members bring:
10” foundation squares
- Muslin or plain cotton (low-thread-count bedsheets are great)
- White or light colors
2” strips for block centers (quilting cotton). Tone-ontone or monochromatic print that read as any one of these colors:
- Red
- Blue
- Purple
- Black
Lots and lots of strips – 1.5” to 2.5” – in all colors, all fabric genres (must be quilting cotton).
Also:
Sewing machines
Rotary cutter, mat, ruler
Scissors
2 or 3 pressing stations – iron and ironing board
Nann will quilt the first five tops (240 blocks) that NLCQG members make and assemble.
The finished quilts will be given to a local agency to be chosen by the NLCQG board.
