Block of the Month

Each year, the Northern Lake County Quilters Guild invites its members to participate in a Block of the Month (BOM) program. The theme differs from year to year. Each month, participants receive instructions on how to make a different block, along with a focus fabric. Participants add coordinating fabrics, complete their block, and return their block at the next month’s meeting. A drawing is held and lucky people win at least a dozen blocks each!

Each participant is encouraged to make a second block using their own fabrics. In February, those who finish their blocks bring in their completed sampler quilt top and we vote on our favorite. If you were one of the lucky winners of a BOM drawing  or if you have completed a quilt with one or more of the blocks, send us a photo!  We’d love to post it so others can see how you completed your quilt..

When a years program is complete, we will make the instructions available on our website  for all of the blocks. The theme for 2014 is Civil War blocks. The instructions for these blocks will be posted in February 2015 when the program is complete.
