Did you attend our program in June where we demonstrated how to make a small cartonnge box? Here’s your chance to make your own. On September 7th (Saturday), we will have a cartonnage workshop where we will make the Colorways Arts small box kit (DIY kit 102). The box is about 6″ x 4.5″ x 2″. The workshop will be about 4 hours long including a break for lunch. NOTE: This is a repeat of the August workshop.
Items to bring to the workshop: (everything else will be supplied)
- 2 fat quarters
- Small charm or tassel or ribbon to open the box (optional)
- Rotary cutter
- Cutting mat (small mat is OK)
- Scissors
- Ruler (12.5″ square is good)
- Pencil
- Large old heavy book to use as a weight (for example, 8 1/2″ x 11″ x 1″ thick )
The two fat quarters will be used to cover the inside and outside of the box. The fabric should be 100% cotton. Please cut your fabric before class or arrive early and cut your fabric before class begins. Instructions for selecting and cutting your fabric are in the supply list here:
The cost for the class will be $20.00. This includes the kit, instructions (to print at home), and use of tools and supplies during the class. You will leave with a finished box!
There will be a maximum of 8 students. Contact Marilyn Fettinger by email to register:
webmaster@nlcqg.org. If you want your own set of tools or an additional kit, they will be available for purchase through Buttons and Bolts.
You are welcome to bring a lunch or snacks. We will take a break for lunch and several short breaks during the workshop while our glue is drying.
