Our holiday party is Wednesday, December 4th, 2018. Doors open at 5:45pm, and dinner will be served at 6pm. Last day to sign up is the November meeting.

If you plan to attend the dinner, you must pay at the November meeting, so remember to bring your checkbook  The cost is TBA.  Contact Jonnie Staggs to register.

If you do not attend the dinner, you are welcome to join us for some special activities starting at 7:00 PM. There will be an ornament exchange, a fat quarter exchange and a White Elephant Exchange. Please also bring items to donate for charity and items for the food pantry.  You can participate in any or all of these activities. Details are below:

ornament#1 Holiday Ornament Exchange
The holiday party is upon us and once
again we will be having an ornament exchange! No sign up is
necessary, all you need to do is make one holiday or winter themed ornament and bring it to our December meeting. Use any technique you would like! Fold paper, carve wood, or bake with clay. Whatever you would like to try. (Many years ago, my kids and I made dough out of 50% cinnamon and 50% applesauce. We rolled it out and used cookie cutters to make ornaments. They were adorable! Although the dog ended up
eating most of them off the tree so maybe this isn’t the best suggestion.)

Find an old Christmas card (or a fun piece of cardstock) and cut it in half (crazy scissors are great for this!). Add your name to one half and punch a hole in it. Add a hanger to your ornament and attach the ½ piece of cardstock with your name to your ornament. You do not need to wrap it, as there will be a small tree to hang it on for display (if you do not have a hanger, they will be available there). When you hang up your ornament, put the second half of the card into the basket under the tree. After dinner, participants
will draw a card from the basket and match it to a card on an ornament to find which one they get to take home. If you have any questions, contact Karen Grage at jkgrage@comcast.net.

#2 Fat Quarter Exchange
Make a bundle of four quilt shop quality fat quarters.  Limit is 2 bundles per member.  They can be purchased new or cut from your stash. They can be coordinated or not. They can be holiday-themed or not.

packagePackage them as cleverly as you like. When you come to the party you will draw a number for each bundle you’ve brought. As numbers are called you can pick from among the bundles others have brought.

#3 White Elephant Exchange
Our gift exchange is a holiday party tradition for NLCQG. Select an object you no longer love (it doesn’t have to be quilt-related) and wrap it festively. We will have a RIGHT good time swapping the packages ACROSS the circle until none are LEFT. ~ Nann

#4 Charity

elfAs part of the Holiday Party, we are asking members to make a mug rug (any theme), pillowcase, Kleenex holder or small table runner for charity. These will be given to the various senior living facilities as part of our charity project. Last year we collected enough to give a gift to each resident at Oak Hill and Autumn Leaves. We’re hoping this year to include Bickford residents too. There’s a lot to do and we are hoping for your continued help and input in 2020.
