Our holiday party is Wednesday, December 5th, 2018. Doors open at 5:45pm, and dinner will be served at 6pm. Last day to sign up is Friday, November 16th.
If you plan to attend the dinner, you must pay by Friday, November 16th, so remember to bring your checkbook to the November meeting. The cost will be $20.00. Contact Jonnie Stags to register.
The meal includes:
Spinach and artichoke dip
Fresh Greens Salad
Romano crusted chicken
Garlic mashed potatoes
Bread and butter
Dessert sampler, apple crisp and a cannoli dip
If you do not attend the dinner, you are welcome to join us for some special activities starting at 7:00 PM. There will be an ornament exchange, a fat quarter exchange and a White Elephant Exchange. Please also bring items to donate for charity and items for the food pantry. You can participate in any or all of these activities. Details are below:
#1 Holiday Ornament Exchange
Make one holiday or winter-themed ornament. Use any pattern and any technique that you like. Find a piece of cardstock – the front of a Christmas card is perfect. Cut it in half (a jagged edge is fun). Tape one half to the ornament.
When you come to the party put the other half into the basket provided. Participants will draw a card from the basket and match it to the card on the ornament.
#2 Fat Quarter Exchange
Make a bundle of four quilt shop quality fat quarters. Limit is 2 bundles per member. They can be purchased new or cut from your stash. They can be coordinated or not. They can be holiday-themed or not.
Package them as cleverly as you like. When you come to the party you will draw a number for each bundle you’ve brought. As numbers are called you can pick from among the bundles others have brought.
#3 White Elephant Exchange
Wrap a white elephant – a “treasure” that you no longer love and/or need. It does NOT have to be quilt related or new. We will have a RIGHT lively passing game to be sure that no white elephant gets LEFT out.
Make a mug rug (any theme), pillowcase or small table runner for charity. These will be given to Oak Hill Supported Living as part of our charity project.
#5 Food Pantry
We are asking everyone who attends to bring a non-perishable food item (no glass) to be donated to the food pantry. This is our way of thanking the Township for the use of the center. Please check the date on the items you donate to make sure they are not expired. Suggested items include:
Canned meats – Chicken, Roast Beef, Tuna
Cream of Wheat
Mac & Cheese
Pork and beans
